Donovan Ferreira is an emerging middle-order batter from South Africa who made his IPL debut in 2024. Rated highly for his wicketkeeping and power-hitting skills, Ferreira was bought by Rajasthan Royals at the IPL 2023 auction for INR 50 lakhs.
Born and bred on the fiery South African pitches, Ferreira has developed a really impressive backfoot game. He first hogged the limelight after he was signed by Joburg Super Kings for USD 300,000 at the auction ahead of the inaugural edition of the SA20.

Ferreira didn't get a game in the 2023 season for Royals and was largely occupied with passing inputs from the team dugout to the men who mattered in the middle. The 2024 IPL season was not much different either. He got a look-in in just two games, scored eight runs at a strike rate of 72.72.
He was subsequently released and signed by Delhi Capitals (DC) at the 2025 auction. Delhi paid him INR 75 lakhs - 50% jump in his annual IPL earnings. The Protea got a solitary game for Capitals in the season, and all he could manage was a solitary run.
Delhi decided to release him, and he secured yet another deal with Rajasthan after they splurged INR 1 crore on him at the 2026 auction. Ferreira suffered a fractured shoulder in a SA20 game against Pretoria Capitals on January 17 and was subsequently ruled out of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026.
Ferreira seems central to Rajasthan Royals' plans this season. His presence in the side reduced their overreliance on Shimron Hetmyer, who has rescued them out of a batting collapse on several occasions.
