Kagiso Rabada emerged as a young and strongly built teenager from South Africa who could unsettle batters with his raw pace. Rabada hogged the limelight during South Africa's ICC Men's U19 World Cup 2014 campaign in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The right-arm speedster bagged 14 wickets in five games and guided the Proteas to the title. His stats were phenomenal during the ICC event as he averaged 10.28 runs per wicket and bowled at an economy rate of 3.10, including a five-wicket haul. Rabada bowled a miserly spell of 1/26 in his 10 overs at just 2.60 runs per over in the final as South Africa beat Pakistan by six wickets to lift their maiden ICC U19 World Cup title.

2017 was Rabada's maiden season in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He was picked up by Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) at the IPL 2017 auction for a whopping sum of INR 5 crore. It was the most Delhi Daredevils paid for any player at that auction, followed by Pat Cummins (INR 4.50 crore). Rabada claimed six wickets in as many IPL games in the 2017 season, averaging 31.33 at an economy rate of 8.81.
Despite his average outing in his maiden season, Delhi Daredevils retained Rabada for INR 4.20 crore for the next season. From 2017 to 2021, Rabada played five seasons for Delhi. He was paid INR 4.20 crore for every season from 2018 to 2021.
He was released by Delhi after the end of the 2021 season and found a new home in the form of Punjab Kings (PBKS) in 2022. Punjab Kings paid 9.25 crore at the auction to rope him in. He represented Punjab for the same price till the 2024 season before the franchise decided not to extend his contract.
The South African was then picked up by Gujarat Titans (GT) at the IPL 2025 auction for INR 10.75 crore.
