Australian batters dismissed hit-wicket in ODIs (Full List)

Oliver Peake registered an unwanted record in the first ODI between Australia and Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club on September 15. The left‑hander was dismissed hit wicket on the first ball of the 43rd over, falling to Zimbabwe’s left‑arm pacer Newman Nyamhuri.

Peake went deep into his crease to a short‑of‑a‑length delivery from Nyamhuri, and the momentum carried him further back after he made contact with the ball. He trod on his stumps, dislodging the bails as Nyamhuri claimed his third wicket of the match before eventually finishing with a five‑wicket haul.

It is the first time since 1987 that an Australia player has been dismissed hit wicket in one‑day internationals. Allan Border was the last Australian batter to fall in the same manner, during an ODI against West Indies in Sydney, when he was batting on 19 off 52 balls. Peake is the sixth Australia batter to be dismissed hit wicket in ODI cricket.

Meanwhile, Peake came out to bat at No. 7 and scored 30 off 40 balls. He struck a four and a six, batting at a strike rate of 75.00.

Matt Renshaw struck his maiden ODI hundred. He finished with 109 runs off 94 balls with the help of seven fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 115.95. Renshaw's knock powered Australia to 294 for the loss of eight wickets in their 50 overs.

Notably, this is Australia's first ODI tour of Zimbabwe since their last visit in 2004 for a three-match series. Australia had inflicted a 3-0 whitewash on Zimbabwe under the leadership of Ricky Ponting.
