After missing out on playing the T20 World Cup 2026, Bangladesh came out all guns blazing against Pakistan in the first ODI of the three-match series at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on Wednesday, March 11.

The Tigers annihilated the visitors, defeating them by eight wickets with a whopping 209 balls remaining. Nahid Rana was the star for Bangladesh as the right-arm pacer dismantled the top and middle orders to register his maiden five-wicket haul. Pakistan collapsed like a pack of cards and were able to put up a mere 114 on the board before being bowled out in the 31st over.

Tanzid Hasan and Najmul Hossain Shanto made light work of the small target, chasing it down in the 16th over itself. Notably, Tanzid scored at a quick rate to clock his fifty in just 32 balls as Pakistan bowlers failed to penetrate through the batting line-up to even be able to compete.

While the massive win helped Bangladesh create historic records it gave rise to a few unwanted ones for Bangladesh.

Here is a list of all the records that were created and broken in the first ODI -

4 - Bangladesh registered their fourth-biggest win in ODIs in terms of balls (209). Their biggest has come against Zimbabwe (229 balls) at Chattogram in 2009.

1 - Nahid Rana became the first Bangladeshi bowler to take all of the first five wickets to fall in an ODI innings

10 - Nahid Rana became the tenth Bangladeshi bowler to pick up a five-wicket haul in ODIs

4 - Pakistan suffered their fourth-biggest loss in ODIs in terms of balls (209). Their heaviest defeat has come against the West Indies at Cape Town in 1993 by 225 balls.

4 - Number of debutants fielded by Pakistan which is the joint second-highest by them in ODIs. The most number of debutants (5) were introduced by them against England at Sahiwal in 1977.
