Highest powerplay score in men's T20Is

India rewrote the record books in the third T20I against New Zealand at Hnry Stadium in Wellington, registering the highest powerplay score by a Full Member nation in men's T20Is. Australia had previously held the record with 113/1 against Scotland at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in 2024.

India shattered that mark on the back of a breathtaking display of power-hitting from opening pair Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Abhishek Sharma. The duo smashed 10 sixes and 11 fours during the powerplay, tearing New Zealand's bowling attack apart.

India also raced to the 100-run mark in just five overs, the second-fastest team century in men's T20Is where ball-by-ball data is available. Eswatini hold the record, having reached 100 in 4.5 overs against Mozambique earlier this year.

The Men in Blue also equalled the record for the fastest team fifty in men's T20Is, getting there in just 2.2 overs. They now share the feat with Papua New Guinea, Romania and Malaysia.
