India vs Zimbabwe 2026: Comparing catching efficiency in recent T20I series

Team India gave their fans a reason to rejoice after suffering double heartbreaks in Ireland and England, as they dismantled Zimbabwe 3‑0 in the recently concluded three‑match T20I series in Harare.

India’s batters and bowlers put on a show throughout the series. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Ishan Kishan were the standout performers. The 15‑year‑old racked up 151 runs, averaging 50.33 at a strike rate of 196.10, including two fifties, and deservedly won the Player of the Series award.

Ishan aggregated 145 runs in three innings, averaging 48.33 at a strike rate of 154.25, with the help of a fifty. He also struck 16 fours and four sixes.

Meanwhile, Mayank Yadav led the charge with the ball. Making a comeback to the Indian team after months, Mayank cranked up the pace and made life extremely difficult for the Zimbabwe batters. He bowled consistently in the high 140s and applied relentless pressure. The seamer claimed five wickets at an economy rate of 6.54.

The highlight of his return to international action was the two deliveries he bowled to Brian Bennett in the first and third T20I. On both occasions, he squared Bennett up and nicked him off without much fuss.

Prince Yadav also looked impressive before a hamstring injury in the second T20I cut his participation short. He claimed four wickets at an economy rate of just 5.43.

While India comprehensively outplayed Zimbabwe in both batting and bowling, they were no match for the Chevrons in terms of catching efficiency.

India were substandard in the field. The Shreyas Iyer‑led outfit grabbed 18 catches but dropped as many as seven, amounting to a catching efficiency of just 72%.

The hosts, on the other hand, had a perfect 100% catching efficiency, converting all 12 chances that came their way. Although Zimbabwe were not good enough to capitalise on those reprieves, such an underwhelming effort in the field could have hurt India badly against a stronger opponent.
