The tenth edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup has begun, and 12 teams are fighting among themselves to achieve the ultimate glory. Winning a World Cup requires several aspects to align together, ranging from on-field performances to off-field preparations. 

It’s the duty of the captain to ensure that everything is put in place before stepping onto the field and inspiring the team to bring its A game to the fore. As the T20 World Cup continues to amaze fans all across the world, here’s the record of all 12 captains in the tournament and how they have fared so far as leaders in their respective careers:

12. Babette De Leede

Babette De Leede has already etched her name in the history books, leading the Netherlands in their maiden T20 World Cup. In their opening game, the Dutch lost a close fixture against Bangladesh by six wickets. In her T20I career so far, De Leede has captained in 45 matches and won 30 out of those and has a win percentage of 66.66%.


11. Gaby Lewis

Gaby Lewis became Ireland’s captain in 2024 and is leading her team for the first time in the Women’s T20 World Cup. She hasn’t got her World Cup captaincy journey off to a good start as Ireland lost their opening game against Scotland by 40 runs. The 25-year-old has a good record as skipper in T20Is, having guided her team to 20 wins out of 29 games at a win percentage of 68.96%.


10. Kathryn Bryce

The Scotland skipper is leading her team to their second Women’s T20 World Cup and has even guided them to their maiden victory in the ongoing edition with a Player of the Match performance against Ireland. Bryce has led Scotland in five matches and won one of them, having a win percentage of 20%.


9. Nigar Sultana

Nigar Sultana was handed over the reins of Bangladesh women’s team in 2021 and is leading the team for the third time in the Women’s T20 World Cup. Under her leadership, Bangladesh have got off to a good start to their campaign, beating Netherlands by six wickets in their opening fixture. She has led the team in nine T20 World Cup matches so far and won two games, having a win percentage of 22.22%.


8. Fatima Sana

Fatima Sana became Pakistan women’s team captain ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. She is leading her team in her second World Cup, and the Women in Green haven’t got off to a great start, losing their first game against arch-rivals India by 64 runs. In the four matches captained in the Women’s T20 World Cup, Sana has guided her team to one win at a win percentage of 25%.


7. Chamari Athapaththu

The Sri Lanka captain is one of the seven players to have featured in all the editions of the Women’s T20 World Cup. Athapaththu has taken Sri Lankan cricket to unprecedented heights with her stellar all-round contributions. She will be leading her team to the fifth T20 World Cup and has won six out of 19 games with a win percentage of 31.57%.


6. Amelia Kerr

Amelia Kerr was given the responsibility of leading New Zealand earlier this year in February, 2026. She has a massive responsibility of leading the White Ferns to a successful defence of their title. However, their campaign has got off to a disastrous start, having lost to West Indies by seven wickets. The spin all-rounder has led her team in 14 matches so far and won nine at a win percentage of 64.28%.


5. Sophie Molineux 

Sophie Molineux was handed over Australia’s captaincy earlier this year in January 2026 and is leading her team for the first time in the Women’s T20 World Cup. Under her leadership, Australia have started the campaign with a thumping 65-run victory. She has led her team in seven matches so far and won five, having a win percentage of 71.42%.


4. Laura Wolvaardt

Laura Wolvaardt was appointed South Africa’s full-time captain in November, 2023 and will be leading her team for the second time at the Women’s T20 World Cup. Under her leadership, South Africa finished as the runners-up of the previous edition in 2024, after losing to New Zealand in the final.

In the ongoing tournament, the Proteas women haven’t got off to a good start to their campaign, losing their first game vs Australia by 65 runs. Wolvaardt has led her team in seven matches at the T20 World Cup and won 4 out of those with a win percentage of 57.14%.


3. Hayley Matthews 

The West Indies captain is one of the finest all-rounders in world cricket and is leading her team in her third T20 World Cup. Matthews has captained West Indies in ten T20 World Cup matches and won six, while one game has ended in a no result. She has a win percentage of 60% and will aim to guide her team to emulate the historic triumph of 2016.


2. Nat Sciver Brunt

Nat Sciver-Brunt was handed over England’s captaincy duties in April 2025 and will be leading her team for the first time in the Women’s T20 World Cup. Under her captaincy, the hosts have got off to a great start, beating Sri Lanka by 87 runs. Sciver-Brunt has led England in 17 T20Is so far and won 12 out of those, having a win percentage of 70.58%.


1. Harmanpreet Kaur

The India skipper has etched her name in the history books after guiding the Women in Blue to their maiden ICC title by winning the ODI World Cup on home soil. Kaur has now set her sights on winning the T20 trophy as she leads her team for the fifth time in the T20 World Cup. Under her leadership, India reached the finals in 2020 but faced a crushing defeat to Australia.

India have got their campaign off to a terrific start, beating Pakistan by 64 runs. Kaur has led the Women in Blue in 20 T20 World Cup matches and won 14 out of those, having a win percentage of 70%.
