Star India batter Rohit Sharma has etched his name in the history books, becoming one of India’s greatest-ever cricketers with his remarkable performances over the years. Rohit made his debut in June 2007 and showed glimpses of his incredible talent at the ICC T20 World Cup 2007.

However, after an initial spark, he took a long time to cement his place in the side until he was promoted as an opener. Since then, Rohit Sharma's career has taken a remarkable turn around as he’s touted as one of the greatest batters and captains of India. During the course of his illustrious career, Rohit has also shattered several records. Here are the top three records held by Rohit Sharma in international cricket:

1. Most sixes in international cricket

Known for his belligerent stroke play, Rohit has put several top bowlers to the sword with the wrath of his willow. The opening batter looks one of the most aesthetically pleasing batters while hitting ginormous sixes. It’s no surprise that he holds the record for most sixes in international cricket with 657 sixes to his name from 546 innings. He has also hit the most sixes in ODIs (364) and the second most in T20Is (205).

2. Most centuries in ICC events

Having played his first-ever ICC event in 2007, Rohit has carved his name in golden words in the legacy of global tournaments. The opening batter has been one of the most consistent performers in ICC events, having registered the most number of centuries in mega tournaments. Rohit has scored eight centuries from 87 innings along with 23 fifties.

3. Most fours in an ODI innings

While Rohit’s six-hitting ability is known to everyone, he’s equally effective in finding gaps in the field. The India opener also holds the record for most fours in an ODI innings, having hit 33 boundaries against Sri Lanka in November 2014 during his world record innings of 264.
