Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Records List: All milestones achieved in Zimbabwe T20I series

After an arduous initiation to international cricket during India's five-match T20I series against England, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi showcased his mettle against Zimbabwe, guiding India to a 3-0 clean sweep.

The series against England turned out to be tough for Sooryavanshi for several reasons. The wickets had a lot more bounce and carry compared to the Indian subcontinent, where the 15-year-old played before travelling to the UK. 

Additionally, Sooryavanshi found himself against a seasoned quick like Jofra Archer. Archer utilised the short-pitched deliveries to great effect against the teenager and exploited his urge to literally smash every ball out of the park.

The southpaw looked like an immensely improved player when he took guard against the Chevrons. He was prepared to leave balls outside off-stump and reined himself in against bouncers. He picked the right deliveries to dispatch to the fence and, for the first time in his fledgling career, looked liberated of the boundary-hitting urge.

The U19 World Cup winner was lauded by India's head coach on the Zimbabwe tour, VVS Laxman, for his eagerness to get better with every game and training session.

#1 Vaibhav Sooryavanshi becomes the youngest to score a fifty in men's international cricket

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's 18-ball 50 in the first T20I at the Harare Sports Club helped him become the youngest player (15 years and 118 days) to register a half-century in men's international cricket across all formats.

The record previously belonged to Nepal's Kushal Malla, who had scored a half-century against USA in a T20I in Kirtipur on February 8, 2020, at the age of 15 years and 340 days. Sooryavanshi subsequently pushed Malla down to third on the list after recording another fifty (49-ball 81) in the 3rd T20I.

#2 Vaibhav Sooryavanshi becomes the youngest to win a Player of the Match award (ICC's full-member)

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's match-winning knock of 81 against Zimbabwe in the third T20I earned him his maiden Player of the Match (POTM) award in men's internationals. He is the youngest recipient of the honour from ICC's full-member nations. Overall, Alusine Turay of Sierra Leone holds the record. He was adjudged the Player of the Match for figures of 2/24 and a 20-ball 33 against Cameroon in December 2022, when he was just 15 years and 74 days old.

#3 Vaibhav Sooryavanshi becomes the youngest to win a Player of the Series award in international cricket (men or women)

Sooryavanshi was presented with the Player of the Series award for scoring 151 runs at an average of 50.33 and a strike rate of 196.10, including two fifties. He also held two catches. At just 15 years and 121 days, he is now the youngest to win a Player of the Series award. He smashed compatriot Shafali Verma's record, who was just 15 years and 296 days old when she won her first Player of the Series honour.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz held the record previously in men's internationals. He received his first Player of the Series award aged 17 years and 300 days.
