Star India batter Virat Kohli is all set to return to action in the upcoming five-match ODI series against New Zealand. Kohli has been in sensational form in recent times, having scored a breathtaking century against the West Indies in the last series.

The star batter will be returning to New Zealand after six years, having last played in the country in 2020. However, he didn’t have a memorable outing on the entire tour, scoring 218 runs from 11 innings with just one half-century to his name.

As far as ODIs are concerned, Virat Kohli has a great record in New Zealand, having scored 596 runs from 13 innings at an average of 49.66 and a strike rate of 91.41 with one hundred and four fifties.

Kohli’s only ODI century in the country came in a losing cause when his 123 (111) wasn’t enough to help India chase down 293 in Napier, 2014. Like with every series, the star batter finds himself on the cusp of breaking several records ahead of the upcoming ODI assignments.

Here are some of the approaching milestones for Virat Kohli in the upcoming series:

1. Virat Kohli needs one more century for hitting most hundreds in Men's List A cricket.

2. He's 54 more runs away from registering most runs while chasing in Men's ODIs.

3. He needs 75 more runs to register most runs against New Zealand in Men's ODIs

4. 179 more runs needed to score most runs against New Zealand in Men's international cricket

5. 12 runs more needed to become only the second batter to score 13000 ODI runs at a particular batting position after Sachin Tendulkar (at opening) and the first to do so at No 3.

6. He needs just one more 50-plus score to record the most 50+ scores against SENA nations in Men's international cricket.

7. One more fifty needed to hit most 50+ scores in a winning cause in Men's international cricket.

8. Kohli is one more half century away away from scoring most 50+ scores against New Zealand in Men's international cricket.
