IPL Emerging Player Winners List (2008-2026)

Every IPL season, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) rolls out a host of awards to celebrate standout performances. Among them, the Emerging Player Award holds a special prestige.

It is reserved for a young cricketer who, through dazzling displays across the tournament, has showcased the skill, temperament, and flair to become a future superstar on the international stage and not just a franchise performer. Over the years, this award has become a launchpad for several players who went on to become household names, underlining its reputation as a true indicator of tomorrow’s heroes.

To ensure fairness and spotlight genuine rising talent, the award comes with strict eligibility criteria (for IPL 2026):

• No previous win: the player must not have won the Emerging Player Award before.
• Uncapped status: the player must be uncapped at the international level.
• Age requirement: the player must be born after 1 April 2000.
• Match limit: have played 25 or fewer IPL matches at the start of the season.

The eventual winner is decided through a combination of a public poll conducted on the IPL’s official website and the consensus of the tournament’s TV commentators. This blend of fan engagement and expert judgment ensures that the Emerging Player Award reflects both popular sentiment and professional insight, making it one of the most eagerly anticipated honours each year.
