India played their first-ever T20I on December 1, 2006, against South Africa in Johannesburg. The Men in Blue won the match by six wickets and thus began their golden journey in the format, which they’ve ruled ever since.
India today stand as the most successful team in the history of T20Is, having won 187 out of 284 matches. Along with that, they’ve also won three T20 World Cup titles, the most by any country.
In their rich T20I history, the Men in Blue have also been on the receiving end of some of the most ruthless innings played against them. Among all nations, India stand third on the list among teams which have conceded most centuries in the format. Here’s the list of all ten batters who’ve scored a century against India in T20Is:
1. Shane Watson
The legendary Australia all-rounder became the first player to score a century against India in Sydney, 2016. Watson played a magnificent innings of 124* (71), laced with 10 fours and six sixes. However, his innings ended in a losing cause, with India winning the match by seven wickets.
2. Evin Lewis
The West Indies opener scored two hundreds against India. The first one was in Lauderhill, 2016, when he scored 100 (49) in his team’s 1-run victory in a high-scoring chase. Later, he smashed 125* (62) in July 2017 in Kingston, guiding West Indies to a nine-wicket win.
3. Colin Munro
The Kiwi batter scored 109* (58) in Rajkot, 2017, clobbering seven fours and as many sixes and was adjudged Player of the Match in his team’s 40-run victory.
4. Glenn Maxwell
The star Australia all-rounder has also scored two centuries against India, both while chasing. The first one came in Bengaluru, 2019, when Glenn Maxwell’s 113* (55) took Australia home in a 191-run chase. Later in November 2023 in Guwahati, his 104* (48) helped Australia chase down 223.
5. David Miller
The South Africa star played a sensational innings of 106* (47) in Guwahati, 2022, with the help of eight fours and seven sixes but couldn’t help his team chase down the massive target of 238.
6. Rilee Rossouw
The Proteas star scored a breathtaking 100* (48), smashing seven fours and eight sixes and was adjudged Player of the Match in South Africa’s 49-run win.
7. Josh Inglis
The Australia batter scored 110 (50), smashing 11 fours and eight sixes in Visakhapatnam, 2023. However, his innings ended in a losing cause as India won the match by two wickets.
8. Pathum Nissanka
The Sri Lanka batter almost took his team over the line in a 203-run chase, scoring 107 (58) with the help of seven fours and six sixes. However, his valiant effort ended in vain as Sri Lanka lost the match in super over, but Nissanka was still adjudged Player of the Match.
9. Jacob Bethell
The England star almost helped his team chase down a massive target of 254 runs in the T20 World Cup 2026 semi-final at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Bethell scored a sensational 105 (48), clobbering eight fours and seven sixes in his innings. Despite his valiant effort, England lost the match by seven runs.
10. Jos Buttler
The England wicketkeeper batter is the latest entrant in the list, having recently played a marvellous innings of 131 (64) in Southampton. Buttler registered a fifty-plus score after 19 innings and was adjudged Player of the Match in his team’s 56-run victory.
