IPL 2027 auction: Three players RCB might release ahead of next season

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) added another golden chapter to their IPL history, winning their second successive trophy in 2026. Under the leadership of Rajat Patidar, the entire unit put up a remarkable team performance to become just the third team in the tournament’s history to win back-to-back IPL titles. 

Despite having a near-perfect season, RCB will have the opportunity to rejig their squad ahead of the next edition of the tournament. Here are three players RCB could release heading into the IPL 2027 auction:

1. Abhinandan Singh

The right-arm seamer couldn’t leave his mark during the last season, picking up three wickets from as many innings. He averaged 40.66 with an economy of 12.62, with best figures of 2/30. With RCB having a strong bench strength in the bowling department, they might look to release Abhinandan and sign other bowling options at the auction.

2. Richard Gleeson

The right-arm speedster was signed as a replacement for Nuwan Thushara ahead of the 2026 season. Given the strong competition for a place in the RCB’s well-settled pace attack, Gleeson couldn’t add to his overall three IPL match appearances during the season.

The two-time champions shelled out INR 1.6 crore to have Richard Gleeson on their roster. Since he warmed the bench throughout the season, releasing him would help RCB free up some purse and fill other shortcomings in their squad.

3. Yash Dayal

The left-arm seamer didn’t feature in the 2026 season as he continues to face legal charges relating to a sexual assault. RCB didn’t sign Dayal’s replacement throughout the season but did well in his absence as they clinched their second successive title.

As uncertainty remains on Dayal’s court case, he’s likely to be released by the franchise. He was signed for INR 5 Crore by the franchise during the 2024 auction, and the amount could be put to good use at the mini auction.
