After two difficult years with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Rishabh Pant is back at Delhi Capitals (DC), the franchise he represented for eight seasons since his IPL debut in 2016 before being released ahead of 2025.
Pant struggled to find his rhythm at LSG. He captained the side in 28 matches across two seasons, managing just 10 wins and suffering 18 defeats. His win percentage stood at 35.71 per cent, while his loss percentage was a glaring 64.29 per cent.
His batting numbers also dipped. In 26 innings for LSG, Pant scored 581 runs at an average of 26.40 and a strike rate of 135.74, far below his usual standards.
Now, as he prepares for his DC homecoming in IPL 2027, Pant has the chance to chase three major milestones.
1. Most fifty-plus scores for DC
At the top of the list is David Warner, who holds the record with 24 fifty-plus scores for Delhi Capitals. Pant currently has 19 fifty-plus scores and needs six more to surpass Warner and claim the record. Other notable names on the list include Virender Sehwag and Shikhar Dhawan, but Warner remains the benchmark Pant will be chasing.
| Player | Mat | Inns | Runs | SR | 100 | 50 | 50+ scores |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| David Warner | 91 | 90 | 2572 | 135.36 | 2 | 22 | 24 |
| Rishabh Pant | 111 | 110 | 3284 | 148.93 | 1 | 18 | 19 |
| Shikhar Dhawan | 63 | 63 | 2066 | 131.00 | 2 | 16 | 18 |
| Virender Sehwag | 86 | 85 | 2382 | 158.37 | 1 | 17 | 18 |
| Shreyas Iyer | 87 | 87 | 2375 | 123.95 | 0 | 16 | 16 |
2. Wicketkeeping milestone
Pant has already effected 95 dismissals as a wicketkeeper for DC, comprising 72 catches and 23 stumpings. If he takes over the wicketkeeping duties from KL Rahul, he will have the opportunity to reach the landmark of 100 dismissals, a significant achievement for the 28-year-old.
3. Most matches as captain for Delhi Capitals
Pant has captained DC in 43 matches, winning 24 and losing 19, which gives him a win percentage of 55.81 per cent and a loss percentage of 44.19 per cent. The current record-holder for leading DC in most matches is Virender Sehwag, who captained them in 52 fixtures, winning 28 and losing 24.
If Pant returns as captain, he will have the chance to surpass Sehwag both in terms of matches led and victories secured.
