Cricket has seen several legendary players grace the pitch in its history, who’ve made a name for themselves with their remarkable performances over the course of their careers. Some of these players also had children with the same passion for the game, who took on the challenge of continuing their father's legacy.
However, only good performances can help a player survive in the fiercely competitive environment of cricket.
1. Sunil and Rohan Gavaskar
Sunil Gavaskar was touted as the greatest batter of his generation, having shattered the record for the most runs in the history of Test cricket by the end of his career. He scored 10122 runs from 125 Test matches at an average of 51.12 with 34 hundreds and 45 fifties to his name. However, his son Rohan couldn’t quite take his legacy forward, playing just 11 ODIs in his career, scoring just 151 runs, along with taking one wicket.
2. Dennis and Adam Lillee
Dennis was the fiercest fast bowler of his time, having given several top batters nightmares with his searing speed. The right-arm speedster was touted as the fastest bowler in the history of cricket by many and went on to become the leading wicket-taker in Tests. He finished his career with 355 wickets from 70 matches and is counted amongst the greatest fast bowlers of Australia.
However, his son, Adam Lillee, couldn’t make it big as he never broke into the Australian side.
3. Moin and Azam Khan
Moin Khan made his debut for Pakistan in the 90s and was known for his exceptional glovework behind the stumps. Moin inflicted 434 dismissals in his career to be known as Pakistan’s finest wicketkeeper. On the other hand, his son, Azam Khan, managed to break into the national team but couldn’t justify his selection through performances. Azam has faced heavy criticism for his fitness levels, due to being overweight and currently finds himself out of the national squad. He has played 14 T20Is for Pakistan and scored just 88 runs.
