Varun Chakravarthy has been ruled out of the ongoing three-match T20I series against Afghanistan. He played in the series opener at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi and scalped one wicket, giving away 16 runs from his four overs.

However, the spin bowler experienced sudden-onset discomfort in his left lateral abdominal region while bowling his third over. He subsequently underwent scans which revealed a side strain. As a result, he has been ruled out of the series; the BCCI is yet to name his replacement.
