Ahmed Raza has been appointed head coach of the UAE senior men's cricket team, succeeding Lalchand Rajput. Rajput was appointed head coach of the UAE men's team on February 21, 2024. Raza previously served as head coach of the UAE women's cricket team for a three-year period.

The UAE women earned ODI status during Raza's tenure, replacing the USA for the 2025-29 cycle. Raza brings extensive coaching experience, having been part of the support staff of both Dubai Capitals and Southern Brave. He also served as the head coach of Capitals during the 2025 Global Super League in Guyana.

"I am honoured to have been chosen for this exciting role and look forward to beginning my new innings," said Raza following his appointment as head coach. "I would like to thank the ECB for providing me with this opportunity. As a former national captain, I fully understand what it means to represent the UAE at the highest level.

"The current team comprises highly skilled and experienced players, along with some exciting youngsters who will take the team forward. My aim will be to build on the good work done in recent years and take it a step further."

Meanwhile, Rajput guided the UAE men's cricket team to qualification for the ACC Men's Asia Cup in 2025 and the ICC Men's T20 World Cup earlier this year. He also expressed gratitude to the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) for the opportunity to serve as head coach of the national side.

"My stint as head coach of the UAE men's team was extremely rewarding, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the squad. I sincerely thank the Emirates Cricket Board, the management, players, and support staff for their cooperation, trust, and unwavering support throughout my tenure. It has been a fulfilling experience, and I will always cherish the relationships and memories built during this journey," Rajput said in a statement.

"During my tenure, I am proud that we achieved several important milestones, including qualification for the Asia Cup and the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, as well as a series victory over Bangladesh. These achievements were the result of the collective effort, commitment, and hard work of the players, support staff, and management. I firmly believe UAE cricket has tremendous potential, and I wish the team every success in its future endeavours. I hope the progress we have made will provide a strong foundation for continued success."
