Aiden Markram 'not too fussed' about prospect of leading LSG in IPL 2027

Aiden Markram is "not too fussed about" the prospect of leading Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) next season. LSG have traded Rishabh Pant to Delhi Capitals (DC) in exchange for Kuldeep Yadav, which means there is a vacant leadership spot up for grabs.

Markram is the obvious pick for LSG. He is currently leading the RPSG's Manchester Super Giants in the men's Hundred. Markram is the incumbent T20I captain of South Africa and has also won the SA20 twice as captain with Sunrisers Eastern Cape. The right-handed batter is also in charge of the RPSG team in the SA20, Durban's Super Giants.

However, Markram is not anticipating anything just yet. He believes there are "some quality leaders" in LSG and whoever is elevated will do a good job of leading the franchise in the right direction.

"I've got no idea," Markram responded to a query by Cricinfo about the prospect of leading LSG next year. "They can decide whatever they think is best. There are some quality leaders in that group that we have there, so I'm not too fussed about it. Whoever gets it, I'm sure will take it on and do a good job, but the thoughts haven't been there just yet."

Markram's numbers as a leader for South Africa demand trust. In 46 games as captain, Markram has won 24 and lost 22 with a win and loss percentage of 52.17% and 47.83%, respectively.

However, LSG can also repose their faith in Mitchell Marsh, who has better numbers to show for than Markram. Marsh has led Australia 42 times in T20Is, winning 30 games and losing just nine. His win percentage stands at a staggering 71.42%. LSG can also choose to keep their cards close to their chest and wait till the end of the auction before making the official announcement.
