South Africa T20I captain Aiden Markram is set to lead Manchester Super Giants (MSG) in The Hundred 2026 after being bought for GBP 200,000 in the recently held auction. The star batter was the most expensive overseas player to be signed and is now part of a third Super Giants team. As a matter of fact, Markram plies his trade for the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL and the Durban Super Giants in the SA20 as well.

Justin Langer, the head coach of MSG, was all praise for the South African emphasising on Markram's leadership prowess which was the highlight of his for the franchise. The former Australian opener also revealed that Markram was the "number one priority" for the franchise at the auction.

"It's nice to have him in three of our teams: brilliant player, outstanding human being, and also real captaincy material. That's one of the facets of his game that we love, his leadership," said Langer as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

Vettori hopes to convince Brook to lead Sunrisers Leeds

Sunrisers Leeds head coach Daniel Vettori hopes to persuade Harry Brook to lead the side in the 2026 season. During the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2026, the white-ball England captain had revealed his lack of desire to captain Leeds after leading the Northern Superchargers for two seasons previously.

Despite that, it seems Vettori would try his luck to convince Brook. If that does not go to plan, Vettori revealed the other options that are being considered.

"I think he likes the team, so maybe we can twist his arm and get him there. We'll just wait and see. We understand Harry's commitments and how full on he is. He will come on the back of a Test series and a white-ball series as well. He will only be able to join up with us one or two days before the start of the [first] game.

"That will be a conversation between himself and myself around whether he thinks he wants to do it. But the likes of Mitch Marsh, Dan Lawrence, Zak Crawley have all got captaincy experience as well. So we can lean on those guys too," said Vettori.

The Hundred 2026 is sandwiched between the international commitments of the English team. The national team would finish the India ODI series just two days prior to Leeds' first match and three days after the final England would commence their Test series against Pakistan. It is perhaps because of the scheduling, among other things, that Brook is not keen to lead the Hundred franchise.
