A sublime century by Atharva Taide (128 off 118 balls) helped Vidarbha clinch their maiden Vijay Hazare Trophy title at the BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground 1 in Bengaluru on Sunday as they defeated Saurashtra by 38 runs in the final.
Player of the Match (POTM) Taide made Saurashtra regret their decision to field first as he struck at a strike rate of 108.47, including 15 fours and three sixes. He got Vidarbha to a solid start, adding 80 runs for the first wicket alongside Aman Mokhade (33 off 45 balls).

He then stitched 133 runs for the second wicket with Yash Rathod, who scored a 61-ball 54 with two fours and as many sixes.
Taide got out at the end of the 36th over, whereas Rathod perished on the third ball of the 40th over. None of the other Vidarbha batters managed to capitalize on the foundation as they were restrained by Saurashtra bowlers. Ankur Panwar claimed a four-fer (4/65) and was the prominent reason why Saurashtra wrestled back momentum at the death.
In reply, Saurashtra lost their openers Harvik Desai and Vishvaraj Jadeja in 6.2 overs and lost momentum early. A 93-run stand between Prerak Mankad and Chirag Jani kept Saurashtra in the hunt, but Vidarbha skipper Harsh Dubey claimed pinned Mankad in front of the stumps in the 38th over.
Saurashtra's innings lost steam, and they eventually folded for 279 in 48.5 overs. Yash Thakur was the star of the show for Vidarbha with the ball as he returned figures of 4/50, and Nachiket Bhute claimed 3/46.
