Bangladesh have announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Women's T20 World Cup to be played in England. Nigar Sultana Joty will lead the team, combining youth and experience.

Slow left-arm orthodox bowler Nahida Akter has been named vice-captain of the side. Akter, 25, is vastly experienced with over 100 T20I caps and has claimed 117 wickets at an average of 17.11 and an economy rate of 5.81. She has two five-wicket hauls to her credit.

The squad announcement marks the return of top-order batter Taj Nehar. Hehar, 28, last played a T20I game against West Indies on January 31 last year. She has scored 44 runs in eight T20I appearances.

Bangladesh will have high hopes for Marufa Akter. The 21-year-old seamer has the ability to get a prodigious amount of movement into the right-handed batters. She can be a major weapon for the side with the new ball. The batting order will be heavily reliant on the captain Nigar, and Sobhana Mostary. Mostary, 24, has aggregated 885 runs in 57 T20Is with a best of 59.

Nigar is the leading run-getter for Bangladesh in the shortest format. She has amassed 2336 runs in 119 T20Is at an average of 26.54 and a strike rate of 91.14, including a hundred and 11 fifties.

The Bangla Tigresses have been placed in Group A alongside Pakistan, Netherlands, Australia, India and South Africa. Bangladesh will open their campaign against Netherlands on June 14 at Edgbaston in Birmingham. This is their seventh appearance at the global event. Bangladesh will compete with Scotland and Netherlands in a tri-series in the lead-up to the T20 World Cup.
