Bangladesh's newest ODI debutant Aliss Al Islam reported for suspect bowling action

Bangladesh's newest ODI debutant, Aliss Al Islam, has been reported for a suspect bowling action following Bangladesh's ODI tri-series clash against Afghanistan in Sharjah on October 21.

Aliss, 29, was making his ODI debut and bowled 8.3 overs, conceding 47 runs without taking a wicket. Bangladesh suffered a seven-wicket defeat to Afghanistan.

"After their loss against Afghanistan, the match officials' report had cited concerns about the legality of Aliss' bowling action," the ICC said in a statement regarding the development.

As per the ICC's directive, Aliss will have to "undergo an Independent Assessment of his bowling action at an ICC Accredited Testing Centre in accordance with the ICC Illegal Bowling Action Regulations" but can continue bowling until the outcome of the review is known. ICC regulations permit a maximum elbow extension of 15 degrees in the bowling arm during delivery.

"The off-spinner will undergo an Independent Assessment of his bowling action at an ICC Accredited Testing Centre in accordance with the ICC Illegal Bowling Action Regulations," the ICC statement further read.

Aliss made his T20I debut against Sri Lanka at the Asian Games in Nisshin, Japan, on October 3. Notably, he was previously reported for a suspect bowling action on his Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) debut on January 11, 2019.

Playing for Dhaka Dynamites, Aliss claimed a hat-trick and guided his side to a thrilling two-run victory over Rangpur Riders in Mirpur. He has taken 60 wickets in 59 T20 matches at an economy rate of 6.38. In List A cricket, he has claimed 35 wickets in 20 matches at an average of 18.40 and an economy rate of 4.13.
