The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a cash reward of INR 131 crore (approximately USD 14.4 million) for the Suryakumar Yadav-led side, which successfully defended its T20 World Cup title on Sunday, March 8.
India steamrolled New Zealand in the final of the marquee ICC event by a staggering margin of 96 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium, in the presence of a capacity crowd, to become the first team in the history of the competition to win three titles. The Men in Blue also became the first outfit to defend their title successfully and win it on their home turf.

India launched their campaign by avoiding a near banana slip as they beat the United States of America by 29 runs at the Wankhede. They gathered themselves after the early wake-up call and trounced Namibia by 93 runs in the second group-stage fixture at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
They made it three in as many games after swatting aside the challenge posed by their arch-rivals Pakistan, comprehensively beating them by 61 runs at the R Premadasa in Colombo. The co-hosts then defeated Netherlands by 17 runs in their final group game to advance to the Super Eight stage.
The Super Eight began with an early jolt for the Suryakumar-led side as they lost to South Africa at the Narendra Modi Stadium by 76 runs, in pursuit of 188. However, as a champion side would do, India dusted themselves off and beat Zimbabwe and West Indies, by 72 runs and five wickets respectively in their final two Super Eight games to book a ticket to the semis.
Faced against two-time winners England in the knock-out game, India posted a massive 253 on the board and successfully defended it by a narrow margin of seven runs to secure a final berth.
Wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson was the star of the show for India in the knock-out stages as he produced three consecutive fifty-plus scores to help them successfully defend their title. He was awarded the Player of the Tournament for his heroics.
