Sri Lanka produced a stunning comeback to defeat the West Indies by 37 runs in the second T20I, levelling the three‑match series 1‑1 and setting up a decider on June 15.
Put in to bat, Sri Lanka were struggling at 88/4 with wickets tumbling around Kamil Mishara. The left‑hander held firm before former captain Dasun Shanaka arrived and completely changed the complexion of the innings. Together, Mishara and Shanaka stitched a brilliant 103‑run stand for the fifth wicket, laying the foundation for an imposing total.

Mishara played a calculated, composed knock, finishing unbeaten on 61 off 40 balls with four boundaries and three sixes. Earlier, skipper Kusal Mendis had provided momentum with a quickfire 31 off 19 deliveries, striking two fours and two sixes at a strike rate of 163.15.
The real fireworks came from Shanaka, who hammered a blistering 58 off just 24 balls. His innings, laced with five fours and four sixes at a strike rate of 241.66, knocked the wind out of the West Indies’ sails and propelled Sri Lanka to 194/6. Shanaka was deservedly named Player of the Match (POTM).
For the hosts, Shamar Joseph continued his fine form with three wickets, while Matthew Forde chipped in with 2/38.
West Indies’ chase falters
Chasing 195, West Indies were rocked early, losing both openers with just nine runs on the board inside two overs. A spirited fightback followed as Shimron Hetmyer (36 off 26) and Rovman Powell (43 off 26) added 81 runs for the third wicket, reviving hopes of a successful chase.
However, a brilliant run‑out by Pavan Rathnayake to dismiss Hetmyer turned the game decisively in Sri Lanka’s favour. From there, the hosts collapsed spectacularly, losing six wickets for just 32 runs as Sri Lanka’s bowlers tightened the screws.
Right‑arm seamer Dushmantha Chameera was outstanding, claiming 3/9, while spinners Wanindu Hasaranga (3/38) and Dunith Wellalage (2/28) dismantled the middle and lower order. The visitors sealed victory with ease, ensuring the series heads into a thrilling finale.
