DDCA launches investigation into Delhi Premier League 2026 fixing allegations

The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) has issued a statement acknowledging the recent reports of alleged ‘corruption’ in the Delhi Premier League 2026 (DPL 2026). The association has called all the claims unverified and urged people not to draw conclusions about a franchise, player or the league on unsubstantiated facts.
However, it has written to the respective authorities to investigate the matter through an appropriate established process. DDCA’s statement comes in the aftermath of an investigation by Tehelka, where former Ranji Player Rachit Bhatia claimed that he could provide inside information about a DPL match, two hours before the official toss, for betting purposes in exchange for money.
In the report, Bhatia allegedly asked for INR 1 crore per match for spot-fixing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches and INR 40 lakh per match for DPL. The Nagaland cricketer claimed that he knew a player who is part of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) squad and also plays in the DPL, willing to provide inside information about his teams.

According to the report, the alleged cricketer is a 23-year-old batter from Delhi and played for the Central Delhi Kings in the DPL 2026. The fixing reportedly took place during match No. 7 of the third edition of the DPL in 2026, played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi between Central Delhi Kings and North Delhi Strikers.
How did Central Delhi Kings perform in DPL?
The alleged cricketer reportedly used code words, represented by emojis, to identify the players, while sharing the playing XI before the official reveal at the toss. For Example, the king emoji was used for Central Delhi Kings captain Yash Dhull.
Furthermore, Bhatia claimed that the spot-fixing could be done during Central Delhi Kings’ matches scheduled on 16 August, 18 August and 20 August.
Notably, Central Delhi Kings had a brilliant season in the DPL 2026, finishing at the top of the points table after the league stage with nine wins from ten matches. They also reached the final of the tournament and lost to South Delhi Super Starz. The tournament ran from July 31 to August 30.
