Former India captain Harmanpreet Kaur is focused on enjoying the current phase of her career and making the most of her opportunities in the middle order. She smashed an unbeaten 91 off 41 balls in the third T20I against Zimbabwe on October 20, powering India to a formidable total of 216/4 in their allotted 20 overs.
Harmanpreet struck 10 fours and five sixes during her innings, scoring at an impressive strike rate of 221.95. Her knock helped India cruise to a 92-run victory and complete a 3-0 sweep of the three-match series.
"I don't think there is any pressure anymore. Now it's all about enjoying myself on the field, and that's what I want to do," Harmanpreet, who gave up captaincy before the start of the Zimbabwe series, said during the post-match presentation. "I really enjoy myself in the middle, and that's what I'm here for. I just want to enjoy my batting, and it's great that the runs came."
Harmanpreet also credited her batting coach Himanshu for helping her maintain the right mindset and preparation.
"Bat swing is my key, and I just want to keep repeating that in the nets. I also want to give credit to my batting coach, Himanshu bhaiya, who has been working really hard and understands the kind of batting I can do. Whenever we meet and spend time in the nets, he wants me to experience the same pressure there so that I don't feel any extra pressure during matches. His tactics and thoughts have worked really well."
The series win over Zimbabwe marked Smriti Mandhana's first as India's full-time captain. Mandhana did not bat in the third T20I, allowing the rest of the batting unit to make full use of the favourable conditions at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur.
The two teams will now travel to Vadodara for the ODI leg of the white-ball series. The three-match 50-over series begins on October 23.
