ECB unveils blockbuster Ashes schedule

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has announced the eagerly anticipated Ashes schedule, with both the men’s and women’s series set to run in parallel. The Men’s Ashes will begin at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on June 18, while the Women’s Ashes will start with a one‑off Test at Headingley on June 24.

The Ashes series returns to England after a four‑year gap, when both the men’s and women’s contests ended in ties. The Men’s Ashes concluded in a 2‑2 stalemate, while the Women’s Ashes finished level at 8‑8 on points. Australia retained the urn on both occasions.

The Men's Ashes begins with a warm-up fixture between England Lions and Australia slated to be played from Monday, June 7 to June 10. However, the warm-up fixture is subject to review should Australia qualify for the ICC World Test Championship Final. The WTC 2025-27 final will be played from June 9 to 13 at The Oval.

The addition of a warm-up fixture is the outcome of lengthy deliberations between the ECB and Cricket Australia to enhance prep for the series after England's underwhelming 4-1 loss in the previous Ashes down under. England's mortifying defeat was linked to their lack of preparation in the lead-up to the marquee contest.
