The toss for the England vs India fifth T20I has been delayed due to a bizarre reason, as the Indian team arrived late at the ground. The Indian team bus was reportedly stuck in traffic en route to the Rose Bowl, Southampton, the venue for the fifth and final T20I of the series. The toss was supposed to take place at 2 pm local time (6:30 pm IST), but the Indian team arrived at the venue at 2:06 pm (6:36 pm IST) after being stuck in traffic for too long.

However, the England team managed to reach on time and was seen warming up for the fixture, awaiting India’s arrival. As a result, the toss timings have been revised, and it will now take place at 2:45 pm local time (7:15 pm IST), and the match will begin at 3:00 pm local time (7:30 pm IST).

India are trailing by 0-3 in the series as England registered their maiden T20I series win (involving 2 or more matches) over India, following a nine-wicket victory in the fourth T20I at County Ground, Bristol. It was India's second successive series loss as they were earlier thrashed 0-2 by Ireland. As a result, they're still searching for their first victory under the leadership of new captain Shreyas Iyer.

It's the first time since 2019 that India have lost back-to-back T20I series, and also for the first time in their T20I history that the Men in Blue are on a six-match winless streak.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi dropped for 5th T20I

Meanwhile, India dropped teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for the fifth match, as Sanju Samson came back into the playing XI. Shreyas Iyer also mentioned that Suryansh Shedge was also included in the playing XI in place of Washington Sundar, as he won the toss and opted to bowl first.

India (Playing XI): Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan(w), Shreyas Iyer(c), Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Suryansh Shedge, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav, Prasidh Krishna

England (Playing XI): Philip Salt, Jos Buttler(w), Harry Brook(c), Jacob Bethell, Tom Banton, Sam Curran, Will Jacks, Liam Dawson, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Josh Tongue
