ENG-W vs NZ-W: New Zealand women announce squad for ODI series against England

New Zealand women have announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against England, with Izzy Sharp, Emma McLeod, Flora Devonshire and Nensi Patel named for their first overseas ODI tour.

Former captain Suzie Bates has also been named in the squad. It will be her farewell ODI series after she announced her retirement a few days ago. She is set to draw curtains on her international career after the end of New Zealand's campaign at the upcoming ICC Women's T20 World Cup.

New Zealand are on a high after winning two consecutive 50-over bilateral contests following the ODI World Cup debacle in India. They clean-swept Zimbabwe 3-0 at home and followed it up with a 2-1 win over South Africa.

Amelia Kerr will lead the team that has a nice blend of youthful exuberance and years of valuable experience. White Ferns head coach Ben Sawyer is confident in the ability of the youngsters on the team, but is also aware of the challenge that England may pose in their backyard.

"England is a tough side to beat in their home conditions - so it's a good chance to test ourselves," Sawyer said.

"We've got some exciting young talent in this squad with the likes of Emma, Izzy, Nensi, and Flora, alongside our core group of seasoned campaigners," he said.

"Our younger players are finding their feet in international cricket but they've proved they have what it takes to succeed at this level."
