England have named a 15‑player squad for their one‑off Test against India women, which will be played at Lord’s next month following the conclusion of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. The fixture will mark a landmark moment, the first‑ever women’s Test at Lord’s, a venue steeped in cricketing history.

The squad includes five uncapped players (Tests), with Alice Capsey the most experienced among them at the international level. She is joined by Mady Villiers, Tilly Corteen‑Coleman, Grace Potts, and Ellie Threlkeld, all of whom will be hoping to make their mark in the longest format. Nat Sciver‑Brunt has been named captain and, fitness permitting, will lead England in this historic contest.

ECB’s Managing Director of Women’s Cricket, Clare Connor, underlined the significance of the occasion: “We have selected a strong Test squad under the leadership of Nat Sciver‑Brunt for what will be another historic few days at Lord’s for women’s cricket.

"Test cricket is a rare and wonderfully challenging experience in the women’s game and I know how proud our players are to represent England in this format.

"For the 11 women who will get the chance to be the first to enjoy that feeling at Lord’s, it will be a moment to savour.”

Connor’s words capture the sense of pride and anticipation surrounding the match. For many of the players, this will be a once‑in‑a‑lifetime opportunity to etch their names into history at the "Home of Cricket".

Capsey, 21, has already played 36 WODIs and 53 WT20Is in her career, scoring 514 and 961 runs, respectively. Corteen-Coleman, 18, has just played 2 WODIs and a WT20I and is a part of England's T20 World Cup squad.

The squad announcement also marks the return of Durham's star allrounder Mady Villiers. She has already represented England in three ODIs and 19 T20Is. The other two fresh faces are the Lancashire duo of Ellie Threlkeld and Grace Potts. Both Threlkeld and Potts are yet to feature for England at the international level.
