Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul are set to join their state teams for the Vijay Hazare Trophy in the lead-up to the three-match home ODI series against New Zealand, which starts on January 11. All three players, it is learnt, have confirmed their availability to their respective state associations as they honour the BCCI-mandated domestic commitments.

India’s Test and ODI skipper, Shubman Gill, is likely to turn out for Punjab on January 3 and 6 for their games against Sikkim and Goa in Jaipur. Punjab, who are slotted alongside Mumbai in Group C, are at the fourth spot currently with two wins in three games. After these two games, Gill will be required to leave the state team to link up with India’s squad, which could assemble in Vadodara, the venue for the first ODI against New Zealand, by January 7 or 8.

Meanwhile, all-rounder Jadeja has confirmed his availability to the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) for the state team's games against Services and Gujarat on January 6 and 8, respectively. Saurashtra have won a solitary match in the three that they have played so far and are at the sixth spot in their eight-team group. The team is currently in Alur, Karnataka.

KL Rahul, Yashaswi Jaiswal also set to play

As for KL Rahul, the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has yet to confirm the fixtures that the Indian wicketkeeper-batter will participate in. However, the sources in the know of the development have suggested the likelihood of his participation against Tripura and Rajasthan on January 3 and 6, respectively. Karnataka have won all three games they have played thus far.

Meanwhile, youngster Yashaswi Jaiswal has arrived in Jaipur and is set to turn out for Mumbai against Goa on Wednesday (December 31). Mumbai have secured three wins so far and are currently on top in their group.

The Vijay Hazare Trophy has witnessed increased traction this year, not least because of the participation of two Indian superstars in Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, who have played two games each so far to honour their domestic commitments as mandated by the BCCI.

Kohli, who has been in sublime form with scores of 131 and 77 so far, has extended his participation and will be part of Delhi’s XI for the clash against Railways on January 6.
