Guyana Amazon Warriors successfully defended the lowest-ever score (85) in a T20 franchise tournament to pip San Francisco Unicorns and clinch their second consecutive Global Super League title by six runs. It wasn't merely the lowest-scoring game of the season but also turned out to be the lowest match aggregate (164) in any T20 franchise final.

Imran Tahir won the toss in the summit clash and chose to set a challenging total on the board and put Unicorns under the pump. But his plan didn't come to fruition as the bowling pair of Peter Siddle and Anirudh Immanuel wreaked havoc with the ball. Siddle and Immanuel accounted for six of the Amazon Warriors' batters and entirely decimated their batting order.

Siddle returned figures of 3/18, whereas Immanuel registered 3/7 to ensure Amazon Warriors never ran away with the game. While the batting order collapsed, Dwaine Pretorius (17* off 30) and Matthew Forde (28 off 23) added valuable lower-order runs to ensure the defending champions had something to defend. Skipper Tahir (11 off 11) was the third player to reach double digits before Amazon Warriors were restricted to 85 in 18.5 overs.

In reply, Unicorns suffered the same fate as their opponents as their batting line-up collapsed under the mounting pressure of the required run rate.

Barring Australia's up-and-coming talent, Oliver Peake, nobody else managed to keep calm and hold their nerve. Despite running out of partners at the other end, Peake held his own and scored 31 off 28 balls, laced with three boundaries and a six. He fell on the first ball of the 12th over with Unicorns needing 20 more off 53 balls with three wickets in hand.

Siddle (13* off 22) showed some late resistance but couldn't find someone to hang around for longer as Unicorns got bowled out for 79 in 18.3 balls.

Player of the Match (POTM) Pretorius picked three crucial wickets, claiming figures of 3/24. Player of the Tournament Mohammad Nabi also claimed a three-for for Amazon Warriors, and his most prized scalp of the night was Peake. Tahir chipped in with two wickets.
