A stellar 39-ball 64* from Harleen Deol saw UP Warriorz end their rut as they defeated Mumbai Indians by seven wickets in the eighth match of the ongoing Women's Premier League (WPL) at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on Thursday, January 15.
Player of the Match (POTM) Deol redeemed herself after she was retired out by the team management in the previous game against Delhi Capitals. In pursuit of 162, Deol batted at a strike rate of 164.10 and hammered 12 boundaries to ensure Warriorz scaled the total with 11 balls to spare.

Warriorz got off to a steady start after skipper Meg Lanning (25) and Kiran Navgire (10) added 42 runs for the opening wicket. However, Nat Sciver-Brunt dismissed both batters in the space of five balls and gave Mumbai the opening they needed from the outset.

However, none of the other Mumbai bowlers managed to support her as Deol and Phoebe Litchfield added 73 runs for the third wicket and put an end to Mumbai's hopes. Deol then paired with Chloe Tryon and took the team over the line with ease.

Tryon showcased why she is rated so highly at the international level as she powered her way to 27* off just 11 balls at a strike rate of 245.45.
Early in the evening, Warriorz won the toss and elected to field. Mumbai tried a new opening pair of Amanjot Kaur and Gunalan Kamalini, but with little success. They stitched 43 runs almost at a run-a-ball before Nandini Sharma got rid of Amanjot, who was struggling to deal in boundaries.
Nat Sciver-Brunt played yet another brilliant hand, scoring 65 off 43, laced with nine fours and a six at a strike rate of 145.45. She kept Mumbai in the hunt for a sizeable total and was aided by Nicola Carey, who delivered yet another impressive performance.
Carey remained unbeaten at 32 off 20 balls and took the attack to the Warriorz bowlers. Warriorz bowlers displayed excellent discipline, with Shikha Pandey finishing as the pick. She returned with figures of 1/25 in her four overs.
