Sri Lanka batter Niroshan Dickwella fell prey to Yashasvi Jaiswal’s mind games on Day 5 of the first Test against India at Galle International Stadium, Galle. In the second session, with India five wickets away from a win, Jaiswal tried to get into Dickwella’s mind, asking him to hit some sixes.

What followed was a fun banter between him and the Sri Lanka batter, who came up with a rather witty reply asking Yashasvi Jaiswal to take him to the IPL to see some big hits from his bat.

Jaiswal: Come on yaar, there were a lot of shots in the first innings. We need to see something, come on.

Dickwella: Yes?

Jaiswal: Yes, I want to see. Come on, show me. Hit him there (pointing towards deep square leg), come on. Why not?

Dickwella: No requirement. Take me (to) IPL, then I'll hit.

Jaiswal: We will, we will. 100%. Come on, hit him a six, I'll take you to the IPL.

Dickwella: Thank you.

Much to everyone’s surprise, Dickwella played an extravagant shot on the following delivery but only managed to edge to Rishabh Pant behind the stumps. As a result, he had to walk back towards the pavilion for 10 (17) as Sri Lanka lost their sixth wicket for 156.

Dickwella had scored a magnificent 80 (115) in the first innings, adding 146 runs for the sixth wicket alongside Sonal Dinusha. Meanwhile, after scoring a century in the first innings, Dinusha once again came to his team’s rescue on Day 5, scoring a sublime 84 (128).

He added 95 runs for the fifth wicket with Dhananjaya de Silva (59), rescuing his team from a precarious position of 47/4. Dinusha missed out on his second hundred of the match, getting caught behind on 84 against Manav Suthar.

Sri Lanka were eventually bundled out for 206 with Manav Suthar registering his best innings (6/33) as well as match figures (10/131). As a result, India won the match by 165 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
