After hammering South Africa by seven wickets in the previous game, India look to register an unassailable lead as they prepare to square off against South Africa in the fourth T20I at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on December 17.
While they are leading the series 2-1, the hosts still have plenty of problems to solve with the form of skipper Suryakumar Yadav and vice-captain Shubman Gill being a major concern. Suryakumar has played 20 T20Is in 2025, scoring 213 runs at an average of 14.20 and a strike rate of 125.29 without a fifty or a century.

Similarly, Gill is also searching for rhythm in the shortest format of the game. He has churned out 291 runs in 15 T20Is this year at a better average (24.25) and strike rate (137.26) than Suryakumar. He is also looking for his first fifty-plus score of the year.
On the contrary, India's bowling looks poised with Arshdeep Singh leading the pace attack in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah. The left-arm speedster was adjudged the Player of the Match (POTM) in the last game for his figures of 2/13.
Harshit Rana has also done justice to his chances, snaring two wickets in Dharamsala to bolster India's pace battery. India have drafted Shahbaz Ahmed into their squad for the last T20Is as the replacement for Axar Patel, who is battling illness. However, India are unlikely to tinker with the XI unless Bumrah becomes available.
