IND vs WI: West Indies lose key player to injury ahead of Guwahati ODI

Justin Greaves, who scored the only century for West Indies in the first ODI against India at Greenfield International Stadium in Trivandrum on September 27, has been ruled out of the second ODI. 

Greaves suffered a calf strain while batting in the series opener, but it couldn't prevent him from recording his maiden ODI ton. Greaves won't be able to recover in time for the second ODI, which will be played at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on September 30. He is also in doubt for the 3rd ODI, which will be played at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh on October 3.

Greaves was involved in a 135-run stand with his opening partner John Campbell, setting a strong foundation for the tourists after they were invited by the India captain Shubman Gill to put a score on the board. While Campbell was dismissed for 62, Greaves endured the pain and reached the three-figure mark. He sought help from the team physio, who gave him medical attention on the field and helped him push through the pain.

Windies failed to maximise the start provided by Greaves and could only manage 295 for the loss of seven wickets. It wasn't enough to test India's formidable batting line-up as the hosts galloped to the target in just 41.4 overs with Virat Kohli and Gill recording respective hundreds.
