The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the India squad for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 on Saturday, May 2. The tournament is all set to be played in England and Wales from June 12 to July 5.
Among the regular features, two new names are set for their World Cup debut, namely Bharti Fulmali and Nandini Sharma. Fulmali made her India comeback after seven years in the recent T20I series against South Africa.

On the other hand, Nandini Sharma has earned her maiden India call-up, being rewarded for her stellar performance in the Women’s Premier League 2026 (WPL 2026). The right-arm seamer was the joint-highest wicket taker of the tournament with 17 scalps to her name from ten innings at an average of 18.58 and an economy of 8.31.
She also picked up a hat-trick against Gujarat Giants, becoming the first Indian uncapped player in the tournament to achieve the feat.
Wicketkeeper-batter Yastika Bhatia and all-rounder Radha Yadav have also marked their return in the T20I side. On the other hand, Anushka Sharma, Uma Chetry and Kashvee Gautam, who were a part of the recent South Africa tour, have been left out.
Kashvee missed out on selection as she was unavailable due to an injury to her right knee.
Nandani Sharma also earns Test call-up
A total of 12 teams will be participating in the event, who’re placed in two groups of six each. India are in Group A alongside Bangladesh, South Africa, Pakistan, Netherlands and Australia. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who has played all the editions of the T20 World Cup so far, will lead the side for the fifth time in the mega event
India will begin their campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on June 14 at Edgbaston, Birmingham.
The Women in Blue are the ODI World Cup champions but haven't enjoyed success in T20Is in recent months. Since the last T20 World Cup in 2024, India have won 13 out of 21 matches, which includes series wins in England and Australia.
However, in the ongoing year, they have won only 3 out of 8 T20Is, with four losses registered in the recently-concluded five-match series against South Africa.
Meanwhile, Nandani Sharma and left-arm spinner Shree Charani have earned their maiden call-ups for India’s one-off Test against England in July, set to be played at Lord’s.
