The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced India Women's squad for the five-match T20I series against South Africa next month. 22-year-olds Kashvee Gautam and Anushka Sharma have been called up to the T20I squad for the first time while wicket-keeper Uma Chetry has made a comeback. Meanwhile, Sneh Rana, G Kamalini, Amanjot Kaur and Vaishnavi Sharma have missed out for this tour after being part of the squad for the Australia series last month.
Gautam was part of that tour and played all the three ODIs and the one-off Test, producing mixed results. Anushka, on the other hand, is yet to turn up for the senior women's team in any format. Of late, the right-hand batter had good outings with the India A team in the Women's Asia Cup Rising Stars held in Bangkok.

Kamalini might feel a wee bit disappointed for missing out though. The wicket-keeper has played one T20I only against Sri Lanka in December 2025 and apparently was selected for the recent Australia tour as a back-up option to Richa Ghosh. It seems the selectors are trying out the other options as well before the T20 World Cup in England and so it explains the inclusion of Chetry.
