Australia batter Josh Inglis is likely to join Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) ahead of their game against Mumbai Indians (MI) on May 4. Inglis was unavailable for the first half of the IPL due to his wedding. He recently got married on April 18 and will remain out of action for a few more days before travelling to India, according to ESPNCricinfo.

Inglis had a good previous season for Punjab Kings (PBKS), scoring 278 runs at a strike rate of 162.57. However, he was released ahead of the mini auction for the ongoing season. Punjab Kings co-owner Ness Wadia also revealed the reasoning behind releasing Inglis, saying that the cricketer only informed about his limited availability 45 minutes before the retention deadline.

Hence, the franchise had to let him go at the very last minute, which affected their team combinations for the season. Despite his unavailability for the first half of the tournament, Inglis was bought for Rs 8.6 crore by Lucknow Super Giants.

He initially went unsold but later triggered a bidding war and was eventually picked up by LSG. The wicketkeeper could play six matches for his team after joining them on May 4.

Anrich Nortje leaves LSG camp

Meanwhile, South Africa fast bowler Anrich Nortje left the LSG camp last week for unknown reasons. The speedster played just one game in the season against Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 1, where he went wicketless after leaking 39 runs in his four overs.

LSG are currently ranked eighth on the points table with two wins from six matches, having four points to their name. They will next take on Rajasthan Royals on April 22 at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.
