IPL 2026: SRH vs LSG Highlights, Match 10 - Stats, Player of the Match & More

Lucknow Super Giants earned their first points of the Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026), beating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in thrilling Match 10 on Sunday, April 5 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. After being put in to bat first, SRH struggled their way to post a decent score of 156/9 in their 20 overs.

In reply, LSG chased down the target on the penultimate delivery with Rishabh Pant seeing them home with a captain’s knock. Earlier, after Pant chose to bowl first, SRH fans were over the moon, expecting another monumental score from their batters.

However, Mohammed Shami had other plans as he removed Travis Head (7 off 8) and Abhishek Sharma (0 off 2) cheaply to rock the hosts inside the powerplay.

Prince Yadav (2/34) and Digvesh Rathi (1/46) also piled on the misery, dismissing Ishan Kishan (1 off 4) and Liam Livingstone (14 off 20) respectively. SRH were left reeling at 26/4 in 7.1 overs when Nitish Kumar Reddy (56 off 33) joined Heinrich Klaasen (62 off 41) at the crease.

The duo got involved in a massive 116-run stand off just 63 balls to rescue their team and got them to a respectable total (156/9).

In the second innings, Aiden Markram (45 off 27) returned to open the innings alongside Mitchell Marsh for LSG, and the duo got the chase off to a steady start with a 37-run stand off 28 balls. After Marsh fell to Ishan Malinga, Rishabh Pant walked in at number three and stitched another valuable stand with Markram of 40 runs off 28 balls.

Things got tricky for LSG, with Harsh Dubey (2/18) removing Ayush Badoni (12 off 9) and Abdul Samad (16 off 12) while Nicholas Pooran (1 off 4) got run out in a bizarre fashion. The game went right down to the last over, with Lucknow requiring nine runs to win off the last six balls. However, it was Rishabh Pant’s experience which saw his team over the line.

Mohammed Shami was adjudged Player of the Match for his sensational opening spell, where he removed the dangerous opening duo of Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head. The speedster bowled a whopping 18 dot balls in his four overs, breaking the back of SRH's batting quite early in the innings.

Turning Point

Rishabh Pant's innings emerged as the turning point of the match as his calm head guided LSG to a nervy win. The southpaw slammed nine fours in his innings and anchored the chase perfectly, helping his team register their first win of the season.

Definitely, it's a big plus. You know, when you get this at the last and finish the game, definitely a good plus for us. (on their bowling) I think definitely. I think with bowlers, you know, you've got to appreciate and give them one because, you know, those are the people who set you up for the night, especially when you bowl first. I think Shami Bhai, Avesh, Rathi, I think everyone's contributed really well, especially Siddharth coming in today. You know, we decided as a ground that he's going to make up the play and he did really well for us. (on his talk to the team) We feel like, you know, only thing is there is never a perfect match. You know, you've got to be critical as a management, but at the same time, you've got to appreciate what's happening inside. I think the only conversation is, you know, looking to, you know, execute the plan rather than feeling that I can do all this. Trust your preparation and just take on the game. See, there's no tossing in because of this argument at the same time. I think the bowlers did an extremely good job today. They bowled according to the plan to the right areas, credit goes to the fielders as well for putting all the effort. But you know, one or two of boundaries in these kind of tournaments can go and let's take the match away. So yeah, but I'm happy with the way we fought this game. (good fightback with the bat) Yeah, I mean, because you know, I think losing four wickets early, you know, it gives pressure to other batsmen as well. So, I think, but still, I'll appreciate Klasee and Nitish for taking the total so deep. And I think like in a very good manner, like how it was needed. So yeah, credit goes to them. But yeah, we need to work on batting as well, given so many games where we all make it easier for our chasing team. Yeah, 100%. That was the plan, but you know, we got taking on singles, he was smart about it. And that is something, you know, you look for when you're chasing these kind of totals. But yeah, but we have to give credit to the batters as well because they know Rishabh played well. (on their bowling) Yeah, no, I think we were just taking or following a hunch at that point of time. We were looking for wickets and because those wickets, they bowled pretty well in those overs. So, it was our side. But you know, like I said, sometimes the margin is not so much. One or two boundaries will suddenly change the game and that's what happened in the 17th over, I guess, when we got so many boundaries, like two, three boundaries. But I think Harsh bowled exceptionally well and we want him to bowl in this kind of manner.
