IPL pushes player retention deadline by two days

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has extended the player retention deadline by two days to November 17. It was initially scheduled to take place on the same day as the fifth ODI between New Zealand and India. The IPL 2027 mini-auction, a day-long event, is slated to be held in Goa on December 16.

Several franchises have revamped their coaching setups ahead of the auction, with Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, and Delhi Capitals undergoing major overhauls. Mumbai Indians parted ways with Mahela Jayawardene, Lasith Malinga, and Paras Mhambrey, among others. The franchise has elevated Kieron Pollard to the role of head coach and appointed Robin Uthappa and Mitchell McClenaghan as batting and bowling coaches, respectively.

Chennai Super Kings have also undergone sweeping changes and are now led by former India pacer Zaheer Khan. Zaheer has assembled his own support staff, which includes Albie Morkel, Gareth Batty, and Sridharan Sriram as assistant coaches, while Mohit Sharma has been appointed bowling coach.

Delhi Capitals (DC) will be coached by former India captain Sourav Ganguly. The franchise has appointed Yuvraj Singh as assistant coach and batting coach, while former Sri Lanka pacer Chaminda Vaas will serve as the fast-bowling coach. Former India leg-spinner Amit Mishra has been appointed spin-bowling coach ahead of the 2027 season.
