Justin Greaves reacts after shattering Stuart Broad's 10-year-old world record

The first Test of the ongoing two-match series between West Indies and Pakistan in Trinidad has entered its final stage and can swing either way, as the hosts are seven down at the end of day three and have amassed a lead of 155 runs. The primary reason they still believe they can seal the contest is their pace-bowling allrounder, Justin Greaves.

Greaves recorded his career-best spell of 5/27 in 11 overs to prevent the visitors from securing a massive first-innings lead and thereby running away with the match. In the process, Greaves became the first player in Test cricketing history (based on data availability) to register five consecutive wicket maidens. Consequently, Greaves demolished Stuart Broad's 10-year-old record, who had registered four consecutive wicket maidens against South Africa in Johannesburg in January 2016.

This is Greaves' maiden five-wicket haul in the red-ball format, and it helped the hosts take Pakistan's final seven wickets for just 38 runs. Greaves' most prized scalp was Shan Masood, who racked up an impressive hundred.

Greaves revealed that he was asked by his captain Roston Chase to "just continue to be disciplined" and land the ball consistently in the right areas.

"When I came on, captain Roston Chase just said 'continue to be disciplined in what you are doing' and to see if I can get some wickets for the team," Greaves was reported as saying by the ICC.

"The ball nipped around, and I got some reward. Anytime I get the ball in hand, the team looks to me to be that solid player for them (and) try to dig us out of situations.

"To get five wickets for the first time in Test cricket, I'm really happy, but there's still a lot of work to do in the game."

The Test match is delicately poised, and Windies have their hopes pinned on Shamar Joseph, who is unbeaten on 22, to take their lead past 200.
