Kumar Sangakkara has been named as one of the nine Transformation Committee members appointed to oversee the day-to-day operations of Sri Lanka Cricket. The development comes a day after former SLC president Shammi Silva and other key officials of the board tendered their resignations amid growing resentment among the fans after Sri Lanka's T20 World Cup debacle.
Sangakkara is one of the three former internationals part of this committee. Roshan Mahanama and Sidath Wettimuny are the two others. The others mainly belong to the legal and corporate walks of life. The former Member of Parliament Eran Wickramaratne has been announced as the chairman of the committee.

As the name suggests, the Transformation Committee is aiming for a complete overhaul of SLC by dismantling the existing constitution and curating a new one. The purpose behind this major overhaul is to plug the gaps that allow corruption and mismanagement to creep into the organisation.
The second objective is to restore the legacy of Sri Lankan cricket by "establishing the structures, world-class facilities, and incentive models necessary to empower our national teams."
"Our immediate priority is a total overhaul of the governance framework at SLC," Wickramaratne was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo. "The cornerstone of this effort will be the implementation of the new constitution, ensuring it serves as a robust, modern foundation for the sport."
"We will focus on establishing the structures, world-class facilities, and incentive models necessary to empower our national teams. Our goal is to enable our players to consistently deliver world-class performances and elevate Sri Lanka back to the top tier of international rankings."
