Major overhaul in Team India's coaching panel as BCCI moves on from Ryan ten Doeschate and T Dilip

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has moved on from Team India's assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate and fielding coach T. Dilip. The board decided against the renewal of their contracts ahead of India's upcoming two-match Test tour of Sri Lanka in August.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed the development on Tuesday and also said that the board is actively seeking Dilip's replacement.

“Both their contracts were over during the recent England and Ireland tours, and we are not extending their contracts,” Saikia told Sportstar.

“We are in conversation with a couple of people for the fielding coach’s role, and we will finalise things soon,” he added.

The decision marks an end to ten Doeschate's two-year-long association with Team India, during which he worked with a wide range of players. During his tenure, Doeschate aided India in winning the ICC Champions Trophy and the ICC Men's T20 World Cup. He was brought on board at the recommendation of head coach Gautam Gambhir and departs after a successful tenure.

It is understood that ten Doeschate has a young and growing family, and he was unable to devote time at home due to India's hectic international calendar. Several reports suggest the Dutch is likely to rejoin Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) coaching panel ahead of the next IPL edition. He was assistant to Gambhir when Kolkata won the IPL title in the 2024 season under Shreyas Iyer's leadership.

Meanwhile, Dilip was a part of the coaching staff during Rahul Dravid's tenure as the head coach of the senior men's team. While most of the coaches left when Dravid's reign came to a close after India's T20 World Cup win in the USA and the Caribbean, Dilip remained.

He introduced innovative ways to make the fielding sessions more enjoyable for the players and had forged a strong bond with most of them.
