Zimbabwe Cricket has appointed Mark Coles as the substantive Head Coach of its women’s team after a rigorous recruitment process ahead of their five-match T20I series against South Africa. Coles brings a wealth of experience with him, having previously served as the head coach of the Pakistan and Scotland women's teams.

The former New Zealander has also served as a high-performance manager at Cricket Papua New Guinea and in coaching consultancy roles in Australia, apart from holding various roles in domestic and franchise cricket.

Coles will work alongside assistant coach (batting) Rangarirai Manyande, fielding coach Trevor Phiri, strength and conditioning coach Faith Dube, physiotherapist Farai Mabasa, analyst Keith Kulinga and team manager Mary-Anne Musonda.

Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has also retained Trevor Garwe as head coach of the Under-19 Women's team, while Nonhlanhla Kamuteku will continue as assistant coach (batting). On the other hand, Malcolm Chikuwa is the bowling coach, and Susan Kudzibatira is the team manager.

"Mark Coles brings extensive international coaching and high-performance experience, as well as a strong understanding of the demands of the women's game. Together with the technical and support staff appointed across our senior and Under-19 structures, we believe he will help us build a competitive team and establish a clear pathway for sustained success,” said ZC Chairman Tavengwa Mukuhlani.

Women's selection panel retained

"We are confident that this group will help Zimbabwe women's cricket continue to grow and compete strongly on the international stage,” he added.

The Board also confirmed the Zimbabwe Women’s Selection Panel, retaining Julia Chibhabha as Convener alongside Emily Jinjika and Thandowenkosi Mlilo, with Ishmael Senzere joining as the fourth member.
