A controversial incident occurred in the second ODI between Bangladesh and Pakistan at Mirpur which raised the issue of spirit of cricket.
Off the fourth ball of the 39th over of the first innings, Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz bowled a length ball to wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan who stroked it back towards the non-striker Salman Ali Agha who was out of his crease. Mehidy had to stretch out his right foot towards Agha's to stop the ball which he did. The non-striker, however, attempted to pick up the ball innocuously to hand it over to the bowler but before he could do that, Miraz picked it up and threw it at the stumps to knock over the bails.

The bowler appealed and the umpire at the non-striker's end Tanvir Ahmed sent the matter upstairs. An animated argument between Agha and Miraz followed before the duo separated on their own with the former clearly feeling frustrated about the situation. Eventually, Agha was given out and the batter walked off livid throwing his helmet and gloves towards the dug out.

Pakistan lose their way after Agha's run out to post 274
Earlier in the innings, left-hander Maaz Sadaqat who was playing just his second game got off to a flying start and scored a scintillating 75 runs off 46 balls. The 20-year-old formed a 103-run opening partnership with Sahibzada Farhan which came to an end in the 13th over. After losing a couple of more wickets in the next seven overs for not many, Pakistan needed to rebuild and Agha and Rizwan combined to form a flourishing 109-run stand which came to an end with Agha's run out.
The middle and lower orders failed to fire as Agha's wicket proved to be a catalyst for Bangladesh's revival. From 231/3, Pakistan collapsed to being bowled out for 274 as Rishad Hossain sped up the dismantling with three wickets in quick time.
