Namibia to host South Africa and Zimbabwe in T20I tri-nation series | Check full schedule

Namibia are all set to host South Africa and Zimbabwe in a T20I tri-nation series which will run from August 28 to September 6. Cricket Namibia unveiled the schedule on Friday (August 7). Each team will play the other twice, and the top two teams will enter the final, which will be held on September 6. All the matches will be played at the Namibia Cricket Ground (NCG) in Windhoek.

Additionally, Namibia will also play a three-match ODI series against the Proteas at the same venue after the conclusion of the tri-nation tournament. The three ODIs are slated to be played on September 9, 11 and 13, respectively.

Notably, the T20I triangular is seen as the first step towards a proposed Africa T20 Cup, a multi-nation continental event, modelled on the Asia Cup. While talks are still underway to bring the tournament to life, its inaugural edition is likely to be played sometime next year and is heavily dependent on the ICC's upcoming Men's Future Tours Program (FTP).

This promises to be a memorable celebration of the game and a fantastic opportunity to support the Eagles on home soil."

The CEO of Cricket South Africa (CSA), Pholetsi Moseki, said the move to participate in the triangular series alongside Namibia and Zimbabwe is a testament and a demonstration of their commitment to growing the game in the neighbouring countries of the continent.

"We are excited to be part of this white-ball tour, which not only further demonstrates our commitment to strengthening the game in our neighbouring countries, but also builds excitement ahead of next year's ICC Men's Cricket World Cup, which will be co-hosted by all three nations," Moseki said in a statement.
