New Zealand batters Mark Chapman and Rachin Ravindra have been ruled out of the upcoming ODI series against India as the duo needs more time to recover from their respective injuries. Ravindra injured his shoulder during a promo shoot, while Chapman suffered a hamstring tear at the European T20 Premier League.

Chapman underwent an MRI scan, which revealed that his hamstring requires another two weeks of rehabilitation, while Ravindra’s right shoulder also needs more time to recover so he can field at full capacity.

In their place, New Zealand have added Tim Seifert for the entire series, who was originally a part of just the last two ODIs. On the other hand, Henry Nicholls has been added for the first three matches. Dean Foxcroft will also join the ODI squad for the last two matches. He’s currently part of the red-ball series between New Zealand A and India A.

"Everyone knows what an asset Mark and Rachin are to this side, so it's a shame they have to miss this series. I caught up with Mark last week and although he's disappointed he's working hard to get back on the field,” New Zealand head coach Rob Walter said.

"With Rachin, his shoulder hasn't quite recovered to a position where he could field comfortably in white-ball cricket, so with the Test series later this month we don't want to take any undue risks,” he added.

Meanwhile, Matt Henry, who was ruled out midway through the T20I series against India, has joined the ODI squad, and his match fitness will be assessed ahead of the series.

Matthew Fisher, who was named in the squad for just the last two matches, has been included for the full series as an additional bowling option. The five-match ODI series begins on November 4 at Eden Park, Auckland.
