India all-rounder Prema Rawat has etched her name in the history books by smashing the fastest fifty in women’s T20 cricket. Rawat scored an unbeaten 50* (14) playing for Uttarakhand against Hyderabad during the Senior Women's T20 Trophy at MCA Cricket Stadium, Gahunje, Pune.

She reached the landmark in just 14 balls, smashing six boundaries and four sixes en route to the world record. Rawat surpassed Marie Kelly, Fatima Sana and Laura Harris’ feats, who jointly held the record in T20S, each making a half-century off 15 balls.

Kelly hit the record while playing for Warwickshire in 2022, Sana hit the 15-ball fifty for Pakistan, and Harris hit it twice, first for Otago in 2025 and then for Surrey in 2026.

Courtesy of Rawat's innings, Uttarakhand posted a massive score of 187/2 in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, Hyderabad could never get going in their run chase and were restricted to 98/8 in their 20 overs. Rawat also starred with the ball, removing opener Gugulothu Kavyasree and Nalla Kranthi Reddy to finish with figures of 2/12 in four overs.

Prema Rawat's career so far

Rawat made her international debut against South Africa during the T20 World Cup 2026 in Manchester. She has played seven T20Is in her career so far and scalped seven wickets while scoring 13 runs. The wrist-spinner registered her best figures during the Asia Cup 2026, when her spell of 3/9 in four overs helped India skittle Pakistan for just 55.

The 24-year-old has played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) and was a part of their title-winning campaigns in the 2024 and 2026 seasons. Rawat has picked up three wickets from six games in the tournament so far. She was also retained by the franchise ahead of the 2027 season.
