The Pakistan Super League 2026 season will see eight captains leading their sides, with salaries ranging from modest sums to marquee contracts. At the top end, Karachi Kings have secured David Warner for PKR 7.9 crore, making him the highest‑paid captain this season.

Close behind are Babar Azam (Peshawar Zalmi), Shaheen Afridi (Lahore Qalandars), and Shadab Khan (Islamabad United), each earning PKR 7 crore. Their stature as established leaders and match‑winners is reflected in the parity of their contracts.

Mohammad Rizwan, captaining Rawalpindi Pindiz, has secured a contract of PKR 5.6 crore, while Marnus Labuschagne of Hyderabad Kingsmen is valued at PKR 5.88 crore, underscoring the blend of local and overseas leadership.

Ashton Turner, leading Multan Sultans, is on PKR 4.2 crore. At the other end of the spectrum, Saud Shakeel of Quetta Gladiators earns PKR 65 lakhs, the lowest among captains.

Beyond salaries, the season carries historic significance. Defending champions Lahore Qalandars have the chance to become the first team to win the PSL title four times. Currently, both Qalandars and Islamabad United share the record with three titles each. A successful defense would cement Lahore’s dominance in the league’s history.

The 2026 PSL edition will also be unlike any other, with all matches scheduled to be played behind closed doors due to the ongoing kinetic conflict in West Asia. While fans will miss the stadium atmosphere, the focus will remain firmly on the cricket and the leadership of these eight captains. Their contrasting pay packets reflect the diverse strategies of franchises, but ultimately, performance on the field will define their worth.
